The BLS OEWS median for the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land MSA (SOC 47-2111) is $59,180/year. Is there a separate Houston electrician license, or just TDLR?
For Journeyman Electricians, only the TDLR Journeyman Electrician license is required to perform electrical work in Houston. There is no separate City of Houston journeyman license. However, for pulling electrical permits in Houston, the contracting company must be registered with the Houston Permitting Center's iPermits system. See the full Houston license guide →
Do I need a TWIC card for electrician jobs in Houston?
Only for roles at Ship Channel, Port of Houston, and coastal maritime facilities. A TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential, issued by the TSA) is required to access petrochemical plants, refineries, LNG terminals, and any port facility covered under the Maritime Transportation Security Act. For commercial, data center, healthcare, and residential roles in Houston — no TWIC required.
How does GlobalCybers place electricians in Houston differently from staffing agencies?
Three differences: (1) We place permanent direct-hire workers only — you become the employer's employee on day one, not an agency temp. (2) We verify your TDLR license against the TDLR database before your profile goes to any employer. (3) We pay your TDLR renewal while you're an active candidate. Most Houston staffing agencies place temp labor and take a weekly margin from your pay — we do not. See how GlobalCybers works for employers →
