California MRI technologists earn a median $124,000 a year, $59.62 an hour, per BLS OEWS May 2025, with the middle half between $92,970 and $151,760 and a full range of $74,360 to $174,030. That is 29.9% above the $95,480 national median — among the largest allied health premiums of any state.

San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara at $176,950 and Vallejo at $176,650 are effectively tied, then San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont at $146,260, Sacramento-Roseville-Folsom at $144,810 and Modesto at $126,980.
