How much do robotics technicians make in 2026?

As with the rest of this series, the classification is narrow — about 15,520 workers — while robot installations across manufacturing have grown substantially, so the figures indicate rather than measure the market. The work spans a wider range than the title suggests. At the maintenance end it is keeping robot cells running: mechanical service, tooling changes, fault recovery, safety system checks and preventive maintenance on the robot and its peripherals. At the programming end it is teaching and optimising robot paths, integrating vision and force sensing, coordinating the robot with conveyors, machines and safety devices, and commissioning new cells. That second half is where the money is: technicians who can program and commission cells rather than only recover faults sit well above the median. Industry follows the usual pattern, with automotive and its supply base holding the largest installed base and semiconductor and logistics automation growing fastest.
