Several credentials are widely accepted — the CCMA from NHA, the CMA from the American Association of Medical Assistants, the RMA from American Medical Technologists and the NCMA from the National Center for Competency Testing among them — but they have different eligibility rules, and some employers name a specific one in job postings.
