How long it takes to get licensed

Social work licences do not transfer directly, though the shared ASWB examination makes endorsement workable: most states will license a social worker holding an equivalent licence in good standing on the basis of their accredited degree and examination score, with a jurisprudence requirement added locally. The friction is in supervised hours — states differ on how many are required, what supervisor qualifications count and how much may be credited from another state, so a clinical candidate mid-supervision should be especially careful before relocating. All states license social workers, but the tier structure and titles differ — the same underlying credential may be called LMSW, LSW, LGSW or another designation. The supervised clinical hours required for clinical licensure, the qualifications a supervisor must hold, and the jurisprudence requirement are all state-set.
