Competitive, yes: master's cohorts are small relative to applicant volume, and programs weigh GPA (especially in prerequisite coursework), observation hours, letters and fit statements. Strengthening moves include post-baccalaureate leveling coursework for career-changers, paid experience as an SLP assistant, and applying broadly across programs. The bottleneck is admissions rather than employment — BLS projects about 13,300 openings a year, and new CCC-SLP holders enjoy one of the strongest hiring markets among master's professions.
